Wayne Cabradilla

Hi, my name’s Wayne Cabradilla. I grew up in a small suburb just outside Boston, Massachusetts. As a kid, I enjoyed playing hockey and camping and hiking as a Boy Scout. After graduating high school, I attended Swarthmore College, where I majored in economics and minored in Chinese language and then I studied for another year at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in Nanjing, China. After finishing that program, I visited Taiwan on a whim in 2003 and have lived here ever since. My hobbies include bicycling through the beautiful hills of Taiwan and taking landscape photography, but most of my time now is taken up by taking care of my two rambunctious kids, Andrew and Allison. One of the pleasures I get from teaching at ACES is being able to watch my students mature and make concrete progress over the course of seven semesters. I hope that you can be one of those students!

Casey

Hello! My name is Casey McAdams. I’m from Columbus, Ohio, USA. I first went to college at Columbus State Community College to earn my Associate of Science degree. Later I attended The Ohio State University where I earned a Bachelor’s of Art which I majored in Chinese and minored in Mathematics.
After college, I took a course for English teachers and earned a Teach English as a Foreign Language certificate. I’ve been teaching English in Taiwan since I feel very lucky to be apart of ACES English school. I feel this school simply offers more for the students than any other school like it. The kids are trained in American English pronunciation, a strong focus on grammar, and also a good foundation in translation. As a dedicated teacher I love that the curriculum is so vast and provides a great opportunity for language development.

My interests include studying Chinese, playing chess, martial arts, and traveling whenever I have the opportunity. When I was younger I used to compete in chess tournaments and became the top player on my high school chess team and I still like to play when I have free time. My first interest in Chinese culture came from my love of martial arts, specifically Kung Fu. I studied Iron Tiger Kung Fu for about 10 years eventually earning a black belt and I also competed in a few tournaments. I have also spent about five months in Africa living both in Kenya and Tanzania and loved experiencing a vastly different culture and getting to know the people.

Nowadays, I’m quite busy with my own family. I have a lovely wife from the Philippines and we have a son and daughter named Frank and Aria. It’s an interesting life living in Taiwan and experiencing the culture here, while also experiencing Filipino culture, and getting to share my own culture as well. I just want to say thank you for your time and I hope to see you in class!
