Rod Hill
Rod Hill
Hello Luodong ACES, my name is Rod. I came to Taiwan from Australia 37 years ago and fell in love with this beautiful country and its amazing people. I met my wife here and got married 22 years ago. Our daughter was born 2 years later.
I have been working at ACES since 2007. I have been involved in many aspects of ACES – curriculum development, teacher training, test writing, performing placement tests and GEPT. Now, I am excited to become the principal of Luodong ACES.
Over the years living in Taiwan, I have enjoyed many aspects of Taiwanese culture. In addition to learning the Chinese language, I have also learned Taichi and have a keen interest in cycling. I can’t wait to explore the many paths that Yilan has to offer.
Gary and I have been very good friends for 17 years. When he kindly offered me the chance to become involved with the Luodong school, I was both honored and eager. I just hope that I can do as good a job as my dear friend Gary. I’m very excited to get to know you all and see more of the Luodong ACES family.
Sincerely
Rod Hill

Hello, I’m Firoz. I was born in London, England. My mother is Taiwanese, and my father is British Indian. We came to Taiwan in 2012. I’ve been teaching English to Taiwanese children since 2015. Coming to Taiwan to teach allowed me to discover a whole new interesting culture and lifestyle, and it gave me an optimistic impression so that I could enjoy and understand this country and the people here. I am fluent in both English and Mandarin. In terms of my character, I’m an enthusiastic, friendly, and easy-going person. I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, working out and traveling.
It didn’t take me long to realize how much I enjoy teaching children English. It is my passion. I believe being patient with children is so important for a teacher, due to their different personalities and abilities. I want students to enjoy learning English, not to see it as a chore.
It feels rewarding to see my students progress in their English ability, because it is a must know language to benefit and achieve more in life. I really enjoy being in Taiwan and I want to continue teaching as a career for the long run.
